ANLC
was established at the beginning of the 1990-1991 school year. Created
as a demonstration program for the district, founding Principal Carolyn
Repp and the teaching team of ANLC was charged with being innovative,
going outside the boundaries of traditional education and putting into
practice the latest educational research on how children learn and effective
schools. The first year, ANLC was housed in the Tavan Annex and was made
up of 84 first, second, and third graders. Now located on the former Kaibab
campus, and under the leadership of Principal Charles Grisier, approximately
600 Kindergarten through 8th grade students continue to learn and thrive
in multi-graded classrooms across the campus. Fundamental to our philosophy
is always doing what is best for children and helping children develop
an intrinsic love for learning and a motivation to be constructive, contributing
members of their community.
